Living in Tahoe City
Tahoe City is the heart of the north shore — the historic town where the Truckee River begins its run out of Lake Tahoe beneath Fanny Bridge (named for the rows of visitors bending over the rail to watch trout). It's the closest thing the north shore has to a downtown: a walkable core of restaurants, gear shops, and galleries between the lake and the forest.
Commons Beach anchors summer life with its lawn, sand, and free concert series. The town is the hub of the north shore's remarkable paved trail network — ride from 64-Acres along the Truckee River to Olympic Valley, or south along the west shore toward Homewood. In winter, Palisades Tahoe and Alpine Meadows are 15 minutes up the river corridor.
Neighborhoods radiate from town: Tahoe Park and Sunnyside toward the west shore, the Highlands above town, Dollar Point with its HOA beaches and buoys to the east. Housing spans everything from vintage knotty-pine cabins to significant lakefronts on the 'Gold Coast' toward Dollar Point.

Vintage cabins, remodeled mountain homes, Dollar Point HOA properties, west shore lakefronts. Median homes $850K–$1.8M; lakefront well beyond.
