52 acres of coastal bluff with a famous harbor-seal rookery viewing area — one of the best easy walks in SB County.
The Carpinteria Bluffs Nature Preserve is a 52-acre coastal bluff with wide, gentle trails through grassland and wildflowers. The signature feature: a seasonal harbor-seal rookery (Dec–May) where you can watch pups and mothers haul out on a protected beach far below. Channel Island views are nonstop.

It's the easiest 'wildlife encounter' in SB County — and the bluff loop is one of the prettiest walks on the South Coast.
Best Time to Visit
Pupping season is December through May — the rookery is closed-access then but viewing from the bluff is excellent.
