A UCSB-managed 158-acre coastal reserve and snowy plover nesting beach next to Devereux Slough — birding, beach, and wetlands.
Coal Oil Point Reserve protects 158 acres of beach, dune, salt marsh, and grassland on the western tip of Isla Vista. The Devereux Slough is one of the best birding spots in the county. Sands Beach is a long sand stretch favored by surfers; portions are closed seasonally to protect snowy plovers.
